Yarrabee's quarry in Castlemaine produces brilliant irregular sizes steppers, perfect for pathways and foot traffic.  All Castlemaine steppers are individually identified during the hand splitting process of producing general paving stone and put aside specifically to be used as steppers.  As with all Castlemaione stone, they bring a natural, earthy tone to any project.

Description

 

Castlemaine Steppers are quarried and hand-split at Yarrabee's own quarry in Castlemaine, Victoria - a site that has been in continuous operation since the 1950s. During the splitting process for general paving stone, pieces of suitable size and shape are individually selected and set aside specifically for use as steppers. The result is a genuinely irregular format with organic edges and a natural cleft face, rather than a cut stone attempting to look rustic.

The stone itself is a warm-toned Victorian slate with the earthy, textured character the Castlemaine range is known for. The natural cleft surface provides good slip resistance without any additional processing, making these steppers well suited to garden pathways, informal paving, alfresco settings and lawn stepping stone applications. At 50-90mm thick, they're substantial underfoot and built to handle regular traffic without shifting or cracking.

Standard pieces run approximately 500 x 500mm or 600 x 400mm in irregular sizing, with custom steppers available up to approximately 1x1m by special order. The full Castlemaine range also includes matching paving, wall cladding, crazy paving and walling stone, so steppers can be specified alongside other formats for a consistent look throughout a project.

Sizing

 
Standard Sizes:

Random / irregular in size approximately 500x500mm or 600x400mm in size and between 50-90mm thick.

Special Sizes:

Custom size steppers are available upon request.  These are generally less than 1m x 1m and 50-90mm thick.
