Slate is available in a wide range of colours, textures and degrees of hardness. Most slates are “split” down the natural laminates within the stone resulting in an uneven surface - “slate like”.
Different slates split cleaner than others and it’s important to check that the selected slate has a texture that suits your taste. Further, as the stone is split, the pieces within a batch of one particular product will all differ in the degree of “roughness”- some will split cleanly while others will be more aggressive.
Some slate paving stones are suitable for outdoor applications, even driveways, whilst others are too soft and are only recommended for indoor flooring or wall cladding. It is particularly important to check the suitability of the product you have selected for your proposed application with one of Yarrabee’s experienced team.
Areas We Service
Yarrabee is happy to supply slate to many areas of Victoria, including: Mornington Peninsula, Torquay, Bellarine Peninsula, Sorrento, Portsea, Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham, Black Rock, Lysterfield, Geelong, Surf Coast, Bayside, Hawthorn, Camberwell, Berwick, Eltham, Beaconsfield, Glen Iris, Toorak, Malvern and Point Cook.
Our outdoor slate paving is suitable for a variety of applications where weather resistance is required, from the flooring of an alfresco area or outdoor room to the creation of a durable garden path or driveway.
The roughness of slate look pavers makes them perfect for pool coping and edging, as they provide a non-slip surface. This is particularly important around the swimming pool, where slipping is a real hazard.
When selecting a natural stone for your driveway, it is essential that you have considered its ability to withstand the pressure exerted by vehicles. Many of our slate paving products are more than capable of achieving this.
Believe it or not, slate pavers can also be put to extensive use inside the home. They are an attractive and warm addition to any room, from the bathroom and laundry through to the living areas and kitchen.
Whether you are creating a feature wall in your lounge room, updating the façade of your home, creating an interesting garden wall or giving your entrance pillars a face-lift, slate is the perfect material choice.
