Description
Vanilla Sandstone is a warm cream honed stone with natural variation ranging from creamy tones through to white and off-white. The honed finish is relatively smooth, making it comfortable underfoot and easy to maintain in both interior and exterior settings. It works well with natural timbers, off-white renders, and neutral palettes, and doesn't feel out of place in contemporary or traditional schemes.
The stone comes in multiple formats: tiles for flooring and wall cladding, bullnose edging for pool coping and finished edges, dropface coping for step edges, and crazy paving for a more organic, informal look. All tile and coping pieces are sold individually, making it easy to specify exact quantities. Crazy paving is sold per square metre.
Vanilla Sandstone is stocked and on display in our Oakleigh East showroom, where you can see samples at full scale and take one home. Our team can advise on format selection and finishes to suit your project.

FAQ's
Can Vanilla Sandstone be used both indoors and outdoors?
Yes. Vanilla Sandstone works for interior flooring, bathrooms, kitchens, and wall cladding as well as exterior paving, pool coping, and pathways. The honed finish is relatively smooth underfoot in both settings and is easy to maintain. In wet areas like bathrooms or pool surrounds, it won't become slippery as honed finishes provide good traction.
What's the difference between tiles, bullnose, and dropface coping?
Tiles are flat pieces for flooring and wall cladding, available in five sizes from 400 × 400 mm up to 600 × 600 mm. Bullnose edging has a rounded edge on one side and is ideal for pool coping and finished edges where you want a softer profile. Dropface coping is designed for step edges where you need a finished overhang, and comes with a 20/50 mm profile. All are 15 mm thick except bullnose (30 mm) and dropface (20/50 mm).
How much colour variation is there in Vanilla Sandstone?
Vanilla has natural variation that ranges from warm cream through to white and off-white tones. The warmer pieces tend to be creamier while the lighter pieces sit closer to white. This variation is part of the stone's character and means no two pieces are identical, which is typical of natural sandstone. If you want to see the full range, samples are on display in our Oakleigh East showroom.
Is Vanilla Sandstone slippery when wet?
Honed finishes provide good traction for most applications, though they're more slippery than textured sandblasted finishes. If maximum slip-resistance is critical for your project (such as commercial kitchens or pool decks), a textured finish would be a better choice. For typical residential interior and exterior use, honed is safe and comfortable underfoot. If you're unsure whether honed suits your application, our team can advise when you visit the showroom or get in touch.
What's crazy paving and when would I use it?
Crazy paving is random-sized pieces of stone (typically 20 mm thick) that fit together like a jigsaw, creating an informal, organic look. It's ideal for pathways, courtyard areas, and informal paving where you want texture and visual interest. Because the pieces are random-sized, grouting is required, which creates visible joints between each stone. Crazy paving is sold per square metre.
How do I clean and maintain Vanilla Sandstone?
Vanilla Sandstone is low-maintenance. For daily cleaning, sweep regularly and wipe with a damp cloth or mop. For stubborn stains, use warm soapy water. Avoid acidic cleaners and harsh chemicals as these can damage the stone. Sealing is optional but recommended in areas prone to staining or heavy use, especially outdoors. Our technical resources include a maintenance guide with more detailed care instructions.
